The Hajj Guide

A comprehensive overview of the fifth pillar of Islam—the annual pilgrimage to Makkah.

The Five Days of Hajj

Day 1: Encampment at Mina (8th of Dhul-Hijjah)

Pilgrims enter the state of Ihram and move to the sprawling tent city of Mina, spending the day and night in prayer.

Day 2: The Day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah)

The pinnacle of Hajj. Pilgrims stand in profound supplication on the plains of Mount Arafat until sunset, seeking ultimate forgiveness.

Day 3: Eid Al-Adha & Jamarat (10th of Dhul-Hijjah)

Pilgrims perform the symbolic stoning of the devil in Mina, perform the sacrifice, and return to Makkah for Tawaf Al-Ifadah.
