In Saudi Arabia, coffee is not merely a beverage; it is complex cultural institution. The pouring of 'Gahwa' dictates a silent code of respect, generosity, and community.
The traditional brass or silver pot customized distinctively across regions. It features a uniquely curved spout designed for elegant, high-arched pouring.
Gahwa is poured holding the Dallah in the left hand and the finjal (cup) in the right. Only a quarter of the cup is filled at a time to ensure the coffee is always steaming hot.
When a guest has had enough, they gently shake the cup from side to side. Without this gesture, the host will naturally continue pouring out of boundless generosity.
